Baptized in Mud

Yesterday I had the opportunity to ride with 3 others from STJMTB blog and while I ended up in the mud more than a few times, It was fun enough. It's become clear to me that my tires are not meant for mud (couldn't even make it up the small inclines on Brownie) and I need some practice with my new clip-ins. The guys were kind enough to let me tag along although lagging quite far behind them at times - more proof that I need to get back up to speed after a 9 month hiatus.

New MTBer to St. Joe MO

Here I am, officially welcoming myself to Saint Joseph, MO as one of the mountain bike enthusiasts (clearly there are more judging by the trails). I usually ride the trails off the parkway and will most likely begin riding Krug trail soon.

A little history: I began riding as a youngster in Novato, CA (Marin County) and we had some great trails. After moving to Missouri (3 years ago) I picked up on biking again. Since I did not have a bike moving out here, I picked up a $200 Schwinn from Wal-Mart (bad idea) to get back on the saddle. After wrecking 3 of their bikes shortly thereafter... I decided it was time to move onto something more ambitious.

Roughly a week ago I purchased a Specialized Stumpjumper Comp ('09) and I'm loving it very much.

If anyone in St. Joe reads this and wants to ride - give me a message, since I'm looking for some company.
